Camden man charged with capital murder

The Camden Police Department put out a press release on Sunday, November 3 in reference to a homicide at Ivory Heights in the early morning hours.

The press release states, "On November 3, 2024 at approximately 1:40 a.m., The Camden Police Department was dispatched to Ivory Heights in reference to a gunshot victim. The victim was airlifted to UAMS, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

"Further investigation into the fatal shooting resulted in the suspect, Marcus Epps, being identified. Officers went to a residence in Camden for a follow up and the home owner, Trameisha Tooks, was non-compliant with our investigation. A search was issued for her residence along with an arrest warrant for Epps. During the search warrant, officers located Epps."

According to the CDP press release, "Epps was taken into custody without incident as well as Tooks for hindering the apprehension of the suspect wanted for Capital Murder."

The Ouachita County Sheriff's Office current inmates list shows the charges for Epps as parole violation, possession of firearm by certain persons and capital murder.

Court documents show at the time of his arrest, Epps was on probation for crimes committed in July of 2023.

In the 2023 case, the court documents show Epps was sentenced to 60 months probation as part of a plea deal. He was initially charged with aggravated robbery, domestic battery- second degree, tampering with evidence and theft of property. He entered a plea of guilty to domestic battery, a class C felony, in the plea deal and was sentenced to probation.

Trameisha Tooks, 25, of Camden is listed in the OCSO inmate list as being charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution and possession of controlled substance.
