Ouachita County Courthouse held its annual Veterans Day Breakfast on Monday.

The event was sponsored by all of the offices at the courthouse along with the Ouachita County Sheriff's Office.

According to Ouachita County Circuit Clerk Gladys Nettles, each office chooses which items to provide for the meal which includes food, drinks, plates and napkins. In addition, she said OCSO cooking staff makes a lot of the food.

Ouachita County Judge Robert McAdoo said the meal was attended by around 65 to 70 veterans.

Nettles said the event, held annually for more than 10 years, takes place in the main lobby of the courthouse giving it a more personal feel.

"I think it's cozier than a big 'ole fancy place," she said. "We just like to keep it cozy and sweet."

While the event itself is held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., Nettles said there are veterans who start arriving as early as 7:30 a.m.

Every office in the courthouse, both from the city of Camden and the county at large, was there to help with the breakfast.

The Camden mayor was in attendance alongside the county judge. Camden city council members also attended the event as veterans or came out to help serve food and show their support for the local men and women who have served in the country's armed forces.

"Our Veterans event is always a very special time in Ouachita County for some of our most deserving citizens in the county," said McAdoo. "We celebrate these men and women every year, but it's just a little token of our appreciation for the massive thing they did to serve our country."
