The Camden Fairview Cardinals, (3-2, 1-1) thumped the athletic Arkansas High Razorbacks (2-3, 0-2) in Texarkana last Friday night, 68-24.
The Cardinals clicked on both sides of the ball early and appeared to take the Razorbacks out of the game when Ronald "Buck" Buckhanon picked up a blocked punt and returned it for a touchdown to put CF up 14-0 with about 5 minutes left in the first, but the Razorbacks would find success by going to the air. Both teams would exchange quick scores and big plays for the rest of the half with the visiting team holding a 27-17 halftime advantage.
CF would start to establish its dominance in the second half as the defense would only allow one touchdown on its way to collecting three interceptions - two by Buckhanon and a pick-six by Maliq Musa-Dennis.
The sportsmanlike rule went into effect with 7:30 left in the fourth quarter.
After falling just short of the 300 yard all purpose mark last week, Trent Haygood accounted for 321 all purpose yards this week and got into the endzone six times. The student athlete had 132 return yards, 8 receptions for 176 and three touchdowns and 10 rushes for 84 yards and three touchdowns.
CF Senior quarterback Darre'll Juney Atkins Jr. accounted for over 350 yards completing 20/30 passes for 282 yards and adding another 76 yards on the ground. William Henton was the second leading receiver for the Cardinals with 58 yards on six catches. Jaden Porchia added 74 rushing yards on 8 attempts and Zhalin White scored his first rushing touchdown of the season. Justin Frazier and Demarrion "Red" Robinson all contributing to the Cardinals ground attack and the Cardinal offensive line dominated in the trenches.
