Local students inducted into prestigious achievement league

A local initiative to provide mentorship and guidance to young men in the area, recently held its induction ceremony.

Members of the Camden Magnolia Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated introduced its first initiates into the South Arkansas Kappa League on Sunday at the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources in Smackover. A total of 12 students from Ouachita and Union County were inducted.

Those students are; Zayden Armstrong (Camden Fairview Middle School), JaKoby Barnes (El Dorado High School), Ty'Shawn Davis (Camden Fairview High School), Zaiden Ellis (EHS), Rodney Frazier II (CFHS), Josh Henry (Barton Middle School), Travion Kendrix (CFHS), Jeremiah King (Junction City High School), Antaveion Leak (CFHS), O'Maury Loggins (EHS) Brayden Minor (Barton), and Christian Stennis (CFMS).

Members of alumni chapter will be working with the young men to develop their leadership abilities, promote academic achievement and to have a positive impact in the community.

During Sunday's induction, SAU Tech Chancellor and member of Kappa Alpha Psi offered encourgaing words to the group and Lambda Kappa Chapter Polemach Belaion Crew also shared his knowledge with the inductees. Kappa Alpha Psi member Greg Williams serves as the Guide Right Director for the group.

According to its website, Kappa League is a subset of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated's Guide Right National Service Initiative. It's a training activity designed to help young men grow, receive, and develop their leadership talents in every phase of human endeavor by providing challenging and rewarding experiences to enhanced their lives.

Kappa League was founded in 1969 in Los Angeles by Mel Davis and the initiative would be adopted by the fraternity in 1970. The program is for the educational, occupational and social guidance of male students in grades 6th-12th.
