Camden Mayor Charlotte Young announced the new Chief of Police for the city at this month's City Council meeting.
Young made the announcement during the mayor's report saying the new chief would be T.J. Robertson.
Young said Robertson would officially take the role on Jan. 31.
A news release Young handed out to members of the media in attendance said, "Mayor Charlotte Young expressed her confident in the new appointment saying, 'After a thorough process and prayerful consideration, I am pleased to announce T.J. Robertson as the next Police Chief of the Camden Police Department. I also want to outgoing Chief Royce Carpenter for his dedicated service and invaluable guidance during this transition.'"
Young stated in her announcement at the city council meeting that Robertson has 18 years of experience in law enforcement and has been employed by both the Camden Police Department and the Ouachita County Sheriff's Office.
According to the release, "In his new role, Chief-Designate Robertson will focus on enhancing public safety, strengthening community relations and addressing the unique challenges facing the Camden community."
